Quality Assurance Technician
Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician
Location: Harrisburg, PA
Pay Rate: $21/hr
Schedule: 2nd Shift, Monday - Friday (Training will be conducted on 1st Shift)
Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Quality Assurance Technician to join our team. This role is focused on ensuring product quality by performing inspections, testing, and documentation throughout the production process. As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will work with the production team to maintain high standards and ensure that all products meet specifications. This position will operate on the 2nd shift (Monday-Friday), with initial training conducted on the 1st shift to ensure proper onboarding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sample Preparation and Documentation:
- Prepare sample bottles for production machines for the current day, including mixes from the freezer, fill line samples, and necessary quantities for each machine.
- Collect and document all start-up production samples and additional samples from each production line after a designated period.
- Collect and document samples during production line changeovers.
- Bacteria Testing and Documentation:
- Perform bacterial testing and plating of samples, including blending media, melting products, and plating samples.
- Count and document bacteria levels on sample plates from the previous day’s production.
- Blend agar and dilution bottles for plating processes.
- Quality Control Checks:
- Conduct and document quality control checks, including product weight, machine speed, and inclusion quality, multiple times per shift.
- Calculate and document the mean and standard deviation for product weight and machine speed from the previous day's production paperwork.
- Inventory and Supplies Management:
- Order and maintain inventory for QA/QC lab supplies and third-floor first aid supplies.
- Support for Production Operations:
- Assist in relieving packing positions as needed.
- Monitor and document QA/QC lab equipment temperatures.
- Accident Investigation and Reporting:
- Document work-related injury accident investigation reports and contact the Nurse Triage line when required.
- Deliver all related paperwork to the Secretary to the President.
- Hiring and Onboarding:
- Review potential employee applications, manage background checks, and coordinate further interviews for open Production positions.
- Process new hires upon selection.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree or technical training in quality control is a plus).
- Previous experience in quality assurance or a similar role is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality issues.
- Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Knowledge of ISO standards or other quality management systems is a plus.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively with team members.
- Good communication skills to provide clear, actionable feedback to production teams.
- Willingness to learn and undergo training on 1st shift before transitioning to 2nd shift.
