Job Title: Battery Technician

Location: North La Vegas
Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday (6:30 AM - 3:30 PM)
Pay Rate: $17.00/hr

Spiers New Technology is the leading provider of services for the life cycle management of batteries used in hybrid and electric vehicles. In this dynamic environment, you will engage in the repair, refurbishment, and repurposing of these essential batteries.


Job Summary:
As a Battery Technician Contractor, you will be trained and supervised by our production team to handle electric vehicle battery packs, fulfilling operational requirements and contributing to our high standards of service.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Receive and inspect battery packs and parts.
  • Assemble batteries with new components.
  • Disassemble battery packs using a variety of tools.
  • Sort materials and clean lower battery protection plates.
  • Apply thermal paste to battery bottom plates.
  • Package and secure battery packs or components for shipping.
  • Conduct minor diagnostic work to identify the root cause of non-working batteries.
  • Perform repairs to refurbish vehicle batteries for redeployment.
  • Actively support all safety initiatives aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Participate in staging, documentation, and end-of-line testing.
  • Ship completed batteries.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent teamwork, collaboration, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
  • Clear, strong communication and interaction skills.
  • Proficiency with assembly tools such as torque calibrated fastening tools, power ratchets, impact guns, multimeters, computers, cranes, test equipment, and miscellaneous hand tools.
  • Organizational skills and a commitment to safety.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Punctual and dependable.
  • Contractors must have and wear steel-toe or composite work boots daily from the first day.
  • PPE such as vests, shirts, gloves, and basic safety glasses will be provided and must be worn at all times.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds individually, and up to 137 pounds with team lifting or equipment.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, stooping, and lifting.
  • Vision abilities include near and far vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Comfort with frequent stooping and kneeling.
  • Good hand and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Physical and mental acuity to perform job duties effectively within safety guidelines.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a warehouse that may or may not be temperature controlled.
  • Exposure to dust and fumes on a regular basis.
  • Some tasks may require working outdoors to fulfill the full lifecycle of job requirements.
