The shipping and receiving specialist position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following warehouse duties to ISO and productivity standards.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  1. Maintain and follow all shipping procedures, methods, and requirements.  Shipping – Parcel – LTL – Truckload 
  2. Lift, move, stack boxes, pallets, while picking / fulfilling orders 
  3. Attach identifying information and delivery instructions on containers.
  4. Prepare pallets for shipping.   Wrap / Strap
  5. Use hand tools to strap pallets, cartons, pallet jacks, hand carts. 
  6. Create required shipping paperwork, invoices, packing slips, etc. as required to properly ship items to their required destination.
  7. Work with third party partners on obtaining freight quotes
  8. Determine best shipping method, create required shipping labels, and initiate pick up for orders shipping LTL or Truckload.
  9. Perform tasks required for ASN (Advanced Shipping Notice) 
  10. Receiving: Unload incoming delivery trucks.       verify shipments by comparing packing lists to purchase orders to ensure accuracy. 
  11. Receiving: Store received products in designated areas and label them. 
  12. Receiving: Create receiving reports in computer system
  13. Verify shipment is complete, undamaged, and accurate. 
  14. Communicate with different departments within the company such as Purchasing, Production, and Customer Service
  15. Ensure received items are routed to appropriate departments. 
  16. Establish priorities and work independently within the team.

  • Ability to become Forklift certified


REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • 2-3 year’s previous experience performing shipping/receiving and related administrative duties.
  • Appropriate credentials to operate a forklift (highly preferred). 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, , and climbing a lot of the day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
